Nevada Supreme Court Chief Ahead; Other Race Possible Runoff

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The chief judge of Nevada's highest court appeared headed for re-election, while a veteran state judge and a defense attorney-turned-state Assemblyman could be headed for a runoff for the other state Supreme Court seat on Tuesday's ballot.

With votes being tallied early Wednesday, Chief Justice Kristina Pickering was above the 50% needed to defeat two challengers to win another six-year term.

Clark County District Court Judge Douglas Herndon was leading state lawmaker Ozzie Fumo, but they might have to vie again in November for the seat held by retiring Justice Mark Gibbons.
