RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada's plan to conduct its June 9 primary election mostly by mail in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic has survived its first legal test in federal court.
U.S. District Judge Miranda Du rejected an attempt by a conservative voting rights group Thursday to block the primary based on concerns about potential voter fraud.
Du ruled the Voters' Rights Initiative failed to establish legal standing necessary to obtain a court order blocking the election. She says Nevada's interest in protecting the health and safety of voters outweighs any concerns raised by the opponents.
