Washoe County School District Closes In Anticipation of Confrontation With Superintendent

Washoe County School District Superintendent Traci Davis called the district’s decision to close today and tomorrow in anticipation of Davis causing a confrontation “a defamation” of her character.

Davis responded to the announcement in an interviewwith the Reno Gazette Journal, and said it was also a clear indication of racial issues in the school district.

The district sent an urgent statement to employees last night, saying it will close down its central offices on Thursday and Friday.

The district said it was concerned Davis would create a disruptive confrontation at the expense of the staff. Last week, the Washoe County School Board said Davis was taking a leave of absence for personal reasons.

Later it was revealed that a special board meeting will be held July 1 to discuss Davis’ alleged misconduct and professional competence.
