NV Prison Population Higher Than National Average: Why?

Nevada’s prison population is higher than the national average and inmates are staying in jail much longer than they were a decade ago.

The question is why — especially at a time when Nevada needs to spend tax dollars more efficiently.

Nevada puts people in jail and prison at a higher rates and longer than most other states. Recently completed studies are are helping to figure out why.
