Nevada Man Sentenced For Marijuana Distribution Scheme

A Nevada man was sentenced to 71 months in prison this week on convictions of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and money laundering.

U.S. Attorney Scott Brady announced today the federal sentence was imposed on 30-year-old Ryan Schanck.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and other agencies conducted a multi-year investigation of a marijuana trafficking conspiracy that allowed marijuana to be supplied from the West Coast and mailed to the Pittsburgh area through the United States Postal Service.

Schanck and his co-conspirators would then distribute the marijuana on the Western District of Pennsylvania, primarily on college campuses such as Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Schanck also conspired to launder more than $250,000 in proceeds from marijuana trafficking.
