Hundreds were injured and 58 people were shot dead in Las Vegas six months ago. Then 17 people, mostly students, were shot to death in Parkland, Fla., in February.

Thousands have died in schools and mass shootings around the country over the past few decades.

This all culminated in marches across the country Saturday, including in downtown Las Vegas.

But what are the marchers seeking? And will they follow through with their promises to vote out candidates who fail to do something about gun control?

History professor Sondra Cosgrove was there, and she gives us our take on how this fits in with other movements in America's history.
