Parents of Del Webb Middle School students have been asked to encourage their children to stay in class Wednesday.
In an email Tuesday, principal Paula Naegle said students will not be given permission to leave the Henderson campus for this morning’s walkouts planned nationwide to protest gun violence.
Naegle wrote, “We are responsible for your children when they are at school, and we do not have enough staff to properly and securely supervise students who walk out of class or off campus.”
Naegle suggested students instead participate in alternative activities during class between 9:45 and 10:07 a.m., such as corresponding with elected officials about their concerns or writing letters of sympathy to the families of the people killed in last month’s shooting in Parkland, Florida.
