A scenic road to Nevada's second-tallest peak is reopening after damage from a wildfire closed the route.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive in Great Basin National Park reopened Friday, more than a week after a 7-square-mile fire near the peak shut down traffic.
Wheeler Peak Campground, Strawberry Creek Road and the burned area in Strawberry Canyon are still closed.

Wheeler Peak, located in eastern Nevada near the Utah boarder, is the second tallest mountain in the state. The tallest peak, Boundary Peak, is on the other side of the state near the Nevada-California border.
