Dzurenda: NV Dept. Of Corrections Aims To Rehabilitate

The state official hired to change the culture of guards and inmates in Nevada's prisons is promising to shift the system toward inmate rehabilitation, in an effort to protect the public.

Nevada Department of Corrections chief James Dzurenda declares in a statement released Tuesday the goal will is going to be to rehabilitate prisoners so they adjust to life outside prison and don't end up back behind bars.

Gov. Brian Sandoval is endorsing the one-sentence mission and vision statements, and some people who've been critical of Nevada prison policies and practices say they're willing to give Dzurenda a chance.
