Project Delays Road Improvements At Red Rock Canyon

An upgrade of a well traveled-road at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area will have a wait a while longer.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Bureau of Land Management officials wanted to start work this month on new pavement for the 13-mile Scenic Loop and expanded parking lots. It is the first upgrade of the road in 20 years.

However, delays on an earlier project forced the bureau to move the start date for the construction into next year.

According to a BLM spokesman, the plan now is to get bids on the project in spring and have it finished by the end of the year.
