Washoe Co. School Board Puts Off Year-Round Conversion To 2017-18

A conversion to year-round classes will be shelved until the 2017-2018 school year at four Washoe County public schools.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Brown, Double Diamond, Maxwell and Sepulveda elementary schools will stay on a nine-month class schedule next school year.

But with so many students, the schools will have to make sacrifices and need at least $600,000 for portable classrooms.

To fit in all the students, kindergarten through second-grade teachers and their classes are expected to have to share classroom space.
