A Legendary Nevada Publication Returns

Territorial Enterprise
The legendary Territorial Enterprise is returning to print and now online.

In the days of the Wild West, The Territorial Enterprise was one of Nevada’s most important newspapers.

In the 1860s and 70s, the paper became known for its stable of famous reporters, including one Samuel “Mark Twain” Clemens.

In 1868, Clemens described the Territorial Enterprise as, “ghastly factory of slaughter, mutilation and general destruction in those days.”

That factory lived on before going dormant in the 1980s. Now the publisher of the Missouri Times, Scott Faughn believes it is time the Territorial Enterprise is reborn.

This time, it will be in the  form of a website and a glossy monthly magazine, which will be available Thursday. Faughn said because of the format they will be able to do more in-depth reporting.

“We want to take and produce high-quality interviews and high quality content for people who really love Nevada politics. Just like we do,” Faughn said.

He said the rebirth of the Territorial Enterprise is about reconnecting people with their government.

“I think you’ll find that the interesting take that we have on the story will add to the political discourse,” the publisher said.

Faughn’s love of Nevada and Mark Twain prompted him to take up revitalizing the publication.
