Ex-ACLU Official Suing Casino, City Of Reno

RENO, Nev. - A former board member of the American Civil Liberties Union in Florida has filed a racial profiling lawsuit against Reno police and a downtown casino after he was charged with trespassing for refusing to produce identification.

Ali Amir Abdul-Aziz claims security guards assaulted him and held him more than an hour at the Eldorado Casino Resort before confirming his company has an account there and he's a member of its executive club.

Abdul-Aziz is an African-American Muslim. He says he was wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey with his traditional Islamic prayer cap, sipping a Starbucks in the sports book when the guards demanded his ID in September 2012.

The trespassing charge eventually was dismissed. The casino is defending its security guards and denies Abdul-Aziz's civil rights were violated.
