A nearly 50-mile stretch of I-15 north of Las Vegas is closed to traffic due to damage caused by rain and flooding. The stretch between mile marker 64 and mile marker 112 between Glendale and Mesquite will be closed for three or four days. The Nevada Department of Transportation has put out an emergency contract to repair washed out sections of the roadway.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says U.S. 93, State Route 168, State Route 169 and the Valley of Fire Freeway are open. The National Weather Service referred to the flooding as "life-threatening." Moapa, which is 50 miles north of Las Vegas, received more than three inches of rain in an hour on Monday.
