Sparks police say a seventh grader who went on a shooting rampage at his school late last year had told a psychiatrist that he was teased at school, and was taking a prescription antidepressant at the time. On Oct 26, Sparks Middle School shooting suspect Jose Reyes shot two students and killed a teacher before killing himself.
At a news conference Tuesday, Sparks Police Chief Brian Allen said they don’t think they’ll ever really know the complete motive for the shooting. Details of the shooting were included in a 1,300 page report released by the Sparks Police Department.
Among the report’s highlights was police didn’t find enough evidence to support charging Jose and Liliana Reyes, parents of 12-year-old Jose Reyes, with anything related to the handgun used in the attack. Police say witnesses also said Reyes was teased for his speech impediment. Allen said Reyes wrote in a suicide not that he wished he had been a better son.
