Center For Biological Diversity Sues Over Mt. Charleston Butterfly

The Center for Biological Diversity says it will sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Forest Service over threats to the Mount Charleston blue butterfly, which is on the Endangered Species List.

The group is concerned about a proposed expansion of the Lee Canyon ski resort, proposed picnic areas, campgrounds and other facilities in the butterfly’s limited habitat in Lee Canyon, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The organization says the resort’s plan to expand operations in the summer, when the butterfly is active and most vulnerable, is dangerous.
