Tarkanian Locked In Another Tight Race For Rural Nevada Seat

GARDNERVILLE RANCHOS, Nev. (AP) — After seven attempts to win public office, Danny Tarkanian is still not a winner — at least not yet.

The son of the late UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian leads by a razor-thin 12-vote margin in a race for a seat on the Douglas County Commission in rural northern Nevada.

Following four runs for U.S. Congress, Tarkanian moved to Gardnerville from Las Vegas. He ran along with a pro-development slate of commission candidates and faced attacks for his lack of local ties.
