LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada's primary election conducted mostly by mail for the first time due to the pandemic produced a bigger turnout than usual but drew complaints and questions from voters in long lines at the few polling places open.
Reno's Lily Baran waited 90 minutes Tuesday night to be the last to cast a ballot at Washoe County's single polling place. She questioned why officials offered so few polling places despite reopening casinos.
State officials say they're pleased overall, citing statewide turnout exceeding 27% compared to the normal 20% for a primary.
