Nevada Unemployment Rate Stands At 28 Percent

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s April economic report says the unemployment rate rose to 28.2 percent, and employment in Nevada is down 244,800 jobs over the month.

The April report is the first one reflecting the full impact of the COVID-19 public health emergency, and it also reflects the impact of temporary business closures in the state.

Unemployment Insurance claims in Nevada increased by more than 1900 percent, to just over 197,000 claims, or 1,955 percent, from April 2019.
