Las Vegas Police Officer Arrested, Accused Of Drug Trafficking

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say one of their own has been arrested and accused of trafficking in drugs.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that Officer Jesus Najera and his brother-in-law, 46-year-old Eduardo Garcia, were arrested Thursday.

According to the department, Najera and Garcia were booked on charges that include conspiracy and trafficking in marijuana. They remained in jail Saturday and it wasn't known whether they have defense attorneys who could comment on their behalf.

The department said Najera had been with the department since 2016 and that he's been relieved of duty and placed on administrative leave without pay.
