Snow Dumps On Sierra, Tahoe, Reno; Rain Headed For Las Vegas

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Chains or snow tires are required on all mountain passes around Lake Tahoe where a late-winter storm dumped a foot of snow, with nearly 3 feet in the highest elevations of the southern Sierra.

Thirteen inches fell at Incline Village and 35 inches at Mammoth Mountain ski resort. Chain restrictions were in place on I-80 from Kingvale to Donner Lake.

In southern Nevada, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning from Monday afternoon to Wednesday evening with heavy snow expected at the highest elevations near Red Rock Canyon west of Las Vegas and rain on the Las Vegas Strip.
