Reno Police See Drop In Pedestrian-Related Crashes

Reno Police say area roads have seen a marked decrease in the number of pedestrian-related wrecks as a result of more people staying at home and adhering to social distancing orders.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports prior to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Washoe County was dealing with an uptick in vehicle versus pedestrian incidents and fatalities.

In 2019, 16 pedestrians were killed on Reno’s roadways. But the Reno Police Department’s traffic division says since social distancing orders went into effect and nonessential businesses were closed, there has been a halt to pedestrian fatalities.
