LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol says a busy stretch of Las Vegas freeway has reopened after a 10-hour closure caused by a fatal crash involving a wrong-way driver slamming head-on into a tractor-trailer.
Officials said northbound lanes of Interstate 15 reopened about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near the Las Vegas Strip.
Trooper Travis Smaka says a driver was killed when a Jeep being driven south in the northbound freeway lanes slammed into a tractor-trailer.
The tractor-trailer driver was hospitalized with injuries that weren't believed to be life-threatening.
Smaka says two people in another big rig involved in the crash weren't injured.
The closure of seven travel lanes until repairs were made snarled the morning commute and created traffic jams on surface streets near Sahara Avenue and Charleston Boulevard.
