An ethics complaint filed last week called Clark County Schools Superintendent Jesus Jara “oblivious to the problems of students and staff.”
Steve Sanson of Veterans in Politics submitted the complaint because Jara expensed an exercise bike that cost more than $2,400.
Sanson suggested the superintendent could have paid for the bike himself, especially after a $17 million budget shortfall led to cutting per-student funding in county secondary schools.
The superintendent used his health and wellness allowance for the bike.
The contractual perk allows up to $5,000 per year for health and wellness-related expenses.
Sanson says he intends to levy a complaint against School Board President Lola Brooks as well. He alleges she hid her approval of the expense from other board members.
