Washoe County School Board To Hold Hearing On Superintendent Davis' Future

The fate of Washoe County School District Superintendent Traci Davis will be decided at a special meeting set for 8 a.m. Monday.

The two topics on the agenda for the Washoe County School Board meeting are a consideration of the character, alleged misconduct and professional competence of Davis, and then, a discussion and a possible vote to formally name Deputy Superintendent Kristen McNeill interim or acting superintendent.

Davis wants School Board President Katy Simon Holland to recuse herself from any vote that may take place.

Davis's attorney, William Peterson, told the Reno Gazette-Journal last night that he is asking that Holland recuse herself from participating in the discussions, deliberations and decision on the superintendent's future.

Holland told the paper last night that she is voting.

The school board called Monday's special meeting after the district said Davis is responsible for leaking confidential information.
