LAS VEGAS (AP) — A second human case of West Nile virus has been found in southern Nevada.
The Southern Nevada Health District said Monday that a woman under the age of 50 is hospitalized with a more serious neuroinvasive form of the illness.
The agency reported its first case for the year in April. That case involved a woman over 50 years old. She has since recovered.

No cases were reported in Clark County last year.
West Nile can spread through bites from infected mosquitoes that fed on infected birds.
Symptoms can be non-existent or mild. But the virus can lead to death.
Health officials say people can protect themselves from mosquito bites to decrease the risk. They can also get rid of any standing water around their homes.
