Another Member Of Valley Electric Association Board Resigns

A second member of Valley Electric Association’s board of directors has resigned.

T he Pahrump Valley Times reports that Peter Gazsy resigned on Saturday.

Gazsy and Ken Derschan were being targeted by a group called VEA Members for Change, which had been trying to get them removed from their seats via a petition-signing initiative that began in February.

Derschan resigned his seat on May 1.

The initiative began earlier this year over rate increases for broadband and energy customers.

Momentum increased with the announcement by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office of allegations that current and former Valley employees received payoffs to keep quiet about a former leader’s sexual harassment of a female employee, and a later announcement of the arrest of Angela Evans, named CEO of the cooperative in October 2018, on suspicion of embezzlement.
