2 Women Held In Las Vegas In Slaying Of California Doctor

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a former model arrested in California in the killing of a psychologist in Nevada arrived in custody in Las Vegas and appeared in court on a murder charge the same day an alleged accomplice surrendered to police.

Kelsey Nichole Turner's attorney, Brian James Smith, said Monday that Turner denies any role in the death of Dr. Thomas Kirk Burchard. A judge on Saturday scheduled a June 3 preliminary hearing in the case.

Burchard's body was found March 7 in the trunk of Turner's car in the desert outside Las Vegas.

Turner was arrested March 21 in Stockton, California. She's now held at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas.

Police say 30-year-old co-defendant Diana Nicole Pena surrendered Saturday to detectives in Las Vegas.

She's due in court Tuesday on murder and conspiracy charges.
