Winter Weather Following Spring-Like Reprieve At Reno-Tahoe

RENO, Nev. (AP) — More winter weather is headed for the Sierra after a brief spring-like reprieve.

 

The National Weather Service says a wintery storm will move into the Reno-Tahoe area as early as Tuesday night, with as much as a foot of snow in the upper elevations above Lake Tahoe.

The heaviest precipitation is expected Wednesday, with as much as a foot of foot of heavy, wet snow possible in the upper elevations.

 

Mostly rain is forecast at elevations below 6,500 feet, but could turn to snow Wednesday night.

Runoff from the rain and melting snow is likely to increase flows in area rivers and streams, but flooding is not expected at this time.

 

Highs were forecast in the lower to mid-60s in Reno again Monday and Tuesday, but should dip back into the upper 40s on Wednesday.
