A southern Utah university student newspaper says budget cuts are a result of stories published about the university’s move to fire two popular music professors.
The Spectrum newspaper reported staff members at the Dixie Sun say a 25 percent cut is administrative retaliation for the newspaper’s coverage of student outcry about the employment status of the professors.
Dixie State University officials deny the cuts had anything to do with retaliation, and instead say the reduction is about cutting down excess printing costs.
