Cortez Masto Introduces Bill To Ban Oil And Gas Leasing In Ruby Mountains

Nevada Democratic U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto introduced a bill this week to ban oil and gas leasing in Nevada’s Ruby Mountains.

The move follows a Trump administration proposal to open 54-thousand acres of national forest land in the mountain range to oil and gas development.

Grazing, mining or any other current uses of the land would not be affected. Cortez Masto says outdoor recreation areas and wildlife habitat in Nevada need to be protected.
