Nevada Superintendent Canavero Resigning

Dr. Steve Canavero is stepping down as Nevada’s Superintendent of Public Instruction. Governor Sisolak’s office said in a press release Friday Canavero’s resignation is effective February 6.

Canavero was appointed interim Superintendent by former Governor Brian Sandoval in 2015, and Sandoval made the appointment permanent in 2016. He previously served as the Deputy Superintendent for Student Achievement at the Nevada Department of Education where he played a major role in developing educational investments and reforms that successfully passed in the 2015 Legislature.
