Fire Destroys Large Vacant Building In Downtown Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say there were no injuries from a fire that destroyed a vacant large single-story building that formerly housed an auto dealership in downtown Las Vegas.

About 20 Las Vegas Fire and Rescue units responded to the Thursday night fire. Its cause is under investigation.

Arriving firefighters found thick smoke coming from the roof and fire broke through the roof a few minutes later.

The roof later collapsed into the interior of the building, trapping burning building material under the roof and producing thick smoke.

The building was constructed in 1947 and has been vacant for the past few years.
