A group in Laughlin is opposing a proposed traffic plan for Nevada State Route 163 and Casino Drive.
The group set up camp outside of a local market last week gathering signatures for a petition to stop the Nevada Department of Transportation’s proposal to bring roundabouts to the area.
The project is planned to begin in 2020, after the completion of the second Laughlin bridge.
The Laughlin Times reportsan opposition group has gathered roughly 400 signatures and is still somewhat informal, but a representative from the Facebook group said the idea is to send the petition to NDOT and make it clear the roundabout is not wanted.
Kathleen Whitehead, a member of the group, said one of the concerns is the possibility of forcing local businesses to have to reroute delivery trucks, and larger vehicles transporting boats and watercraft having difficulty navigating them.
