The desert festival known as RiSE returns to Nevada this weekend, this time near Jean, Nev.
The Bureau of Land Management approved the release of thousands of flying lanterns on the dry lake at Jean after months of discussions with event organizers over traffic and cleanup plans.
As many as 13,000 people are expected to participate in the lantern releases scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights. For the past three years the festival was held on the Moapa River Indian Reservation.

A festival spokesman said they hired a professional company and trained personnel to direct traffic and clean up afterward. Tickets for the event start at $129.
