LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada plans to use $1 million in a data breach settlement with ride-hailing company Uber to bolster a state database used for background checks.
Attorney General Adam Laxalt's office announced Wednesday that Nevada is set to receive about $1.1 million from the $148 million, 50-state settlement with Uber.

The states sued Uber saying the company violated laws by waiting a year to notify people affected by the November 2016 breach.
Nevada plans to use its settlement money for technological upgrades to a
database of criminal history records.

Laxalt's office says that affected Uber drivers will also be eligible for a $100 payment from the settlement.
