Study Ranks Nevada Top State For Identity Theft

Nevada is the top state for people to become the victim of identity theft.

A personal security website called ASecureLifeused data from the FBI and Federal Trade Commission to compile the rankings.

Nevada was named the riskiest state when factoring in average loss per victim and the number of victims per 100,000 residents.

The average victim lost almost $6,000 in Nevada and had over 14 victims per 100,000 people.

Officials with the study said the data only covered residents, not the 42 million tourists who visit Las Vegas every year.
