RENO, Nev. (AP) — A federal judge is allowing two former city of Reno employees to proceed with a sexual harassment lawsuit against the city.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reportsJudge Miranda Du, in a ruling released Wednesday, denied the city's motion to dismiss the case based on the city's argument that former Communications Director Deanna Gescheider and former Assistant to the City Manager Maureen McKissick concocted sexual harassment and hostile work environment accusations in an effort to get former City Manager Andrew Clinger fired.
Du says even if the women had additional motives for filing the complaints, it doesn't necessarily mean they acted in bad faith.
Du also found both McKissick and Gescheider provided enough initial facts to allow their claims.
Reno City Attorney Karl Hall declined to comment.
Clinger has maintained his innocence.
