RENO, Nev. (AP) — Tim Dunn, a longtime Nevada photojournalist who served as the Reno Gazette Journal's director of photography for 24 years, has died. He was 66.
The newspaper reports Dunn died Sunday at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno from complications from rheumatoid arthritis.
An avid outdoorsman and skiing enthusiast, Dunn was known for his friendly demeanor and distinctive shock of silver hair as well as his award-winning photography.
Executive editor Kelly Ann Scott says Dunn's gentle nature and humanity were a perfect complement for reporting on sensitive subjects.
Anjeanette Damon, a reporter who had worked with him since 1998, said he was an "island of peacefulness and kindness" in a chaotic business.
Born in San Mateo, California in 1951, Dunn married his wife Melony in 1975. He's survived by his wife and his daughter, Allison, 28. Services are pending.
