Report: Giunchigliani Campaign Paid More Than $1M To Late Husband's Consulting Service

According to an analysis by the Reno Gazette-Journal, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Chris Giunchigliani paid more than $1 million in campaign money over the course of 12 years to her late husband and his political consulting service.

The paper’s review of public records shows Giunchigliani wrote hundreds of checks to Gary Gray’s firm between 2006 and 2014.

Gray’s company reaped almost half that amount in 2006, the same year the couple purchased a new downtown Las Vegas home.

This has led to questions about whether the payments ran afoul of Nevada election laws, which prohibit “personal use” of campaign funds, including overpaying a family member.

Giunchigliani’s campaign maintains Gray was not paid more than any other campaign vendor
