Judge Orders Metro To Scale Back Fees For Oct. 1 Shooting Information

A judge in Las Vegas ruled the Metropolitan Police Department to scale back its charges for media organizations seeking information about the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival shooting.

District judge Richard Scotti ordered that Metro must not charge media for staff time to prepare records for copying.

Originally the department's attorneys had demanded fees ranging up to more than $458,000.

Scotti did allow Metro to charge 81 cents a page for printed documents and the actual cost of copying other records such as videos from police body cams.
