Trauma Experts Worries School Shooting In Florida Could Impact Oct. 1 Survivors

The shooting Wednesday that killed at least 17 people at a high school in Florida could have an emotional impact for those affected by the shooting last October on the Las Vegas Strip, according to a Southern Nevada trauma expert.

Jill Roberts, CEO of the Trauma Intervention Program of Southern Nevada, said someone can relive previous trauma when news breaks about similar events.

“To have a similar incident occur, emotions and feelings can be brought back to the forefront as if they’re experiencing One October all over again," she said.

The Trauma Intervention Program provided counseling support for people seeking help after the One October attack, which injured hundreds and killed 59, including the shooter.
