Sacramento Votes For Mandatory Panic Buttons For Service Workers

With casino heavyweight Steve Wynn resigning as the leader of Wynn Resorts amid sexual misconduct allegations and the #MeToo movement continuing to sweep the nation, Sacramento County voted this week on mandatory panic buttons for service workers.

They were the first in the state to make the move that will impact 24 hotels in Sacramento County.

Last month, the Culinary Union in Las Vegas asked casinos and hotels to supply guest room attendants with panic buttons.

The proposal was part of the union’s demands as it readies for contract talks with casinos next month.

The ordinance in Sacramento will also require impacted hotels to have a sexual harassment policy on file.
