Final Approval Of Stratosphere, Arizona Charlies Sale Expected Thursday

The Nevada Gaming Commission will meet Thursday and will likely give the final approval for the sale of the Stratosphere and three other Nevada casinos.

Golden Entertainment, which owns PTs Pubs and taverns, announced in June it intended to purchase American Casino and Entertainment Properties which includes the Stratosphere, the Arizona Charlies locations and the Aquarius in Laughlin.

Golden said it would pay $781 million in cash for American, as well as about four million shares of Golden stock.

The Las Vegas Sun reports Golden received approval for the deal from Nevada’s Gaming Control Board earlier this month. The board made a positive recommendation to the commission.

Approval from the commission is the last regulatory hurdle for the deal, which is expected to close soon after the meeting.
