RENO, Nev. (AP) — University of Nevada, Reno President Marc Johnson says the university will support the First Amendment rights of "all students."
Johnson spoke with KRNV-TV about the criticism that the campus faced after a student was identified in the Charlottesville white nationalist event in August prior to his State of the University address on Tuesday.
Johnson said during the address that the university will begin requiring members of search committee for a faculty position to undergo implicit bias training before they review applications as part of university's mission to diversify the campus.
Johnson also says the university would work with recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which allows young immigrants living in the country illegally who were brought here as children to remain in the U.S., to help them reach graduation.
