Lawmakers Hear Laxalt, Gaming Chairman Recordings

State lawmakers have obtained a secret recording as well as an affidavit of conversations between Attorney General Adam Laxalt and Gaming Control Board Chairman A.G. Burnett.

The Nevada Independent reports the affidavit outlines text messages between Laxalt and Burnett, in which Laxalt urgently requests a meeting between the two. Burnett has believed that Laxalt was acting on behalf of his biggest donor, Las Vegas Sands Chairman Sheldon Adelson, to get him to intervene in a civil dispute that eventually cost the casino boss tens of millions of dollars.

Ways and Means Chairwoman Maggie Carlton claimed the information obtained in the recording warrants a hearing soon. A hearing is expected as well as the release of the tape and an affidavit Burnett signed.
