Las Vegas City Council Approves Budget

The Las Vegas City Council approved a $1.4 billion budget this week for the upcoming fiscal year to begin on July 1.

This budget adds 60 positions in public works, animal control, park marshals and youth development. It also helps fund 67 police officers and 47 support staff positions at Metro Police.

The staffing level still hasn’t quite reached the peak it had before the recession in 2008, but council members characterized the budget as healthy as it returns to pre-recession levels of revenue.
