As the Nevada Legislature enters its last week to pass bills out of the houses they were proposed in, several bills have been passed by lawmakers, according to the Nevada Independent.
Insurance coverage minimums:
The State Senate has approved a measure mandating more insurance for drivers.
Senate Bill 308 would increase coverage minimums for injuries, deaths and property damage in the event of a crash.
Tribal ID cards:
The State Senate also approved a bill to mandate state and local government offices treat tribal ID cards as a form of identification.
Senate Bill 399 would also require businesses to accept tribal ID cards for the same purposes that they accept licenses and ID cards issued by the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
Out-of-state teachers:
Nevada senators unanimously approved a bill to ease requirements for out-of-state teachers to work in Nevada schools.
Senate Bill 20 removes the requirement that teachers from other states be tested on U.S. and state constitutional law to obtain their Nevada educator licenses.
The bill would implement a one-year grace period to be trained on that information.
