Gaming Control Board Employee Targeted In Russian Yahoo Hack

A state gaming official was the target of a Russian hacking attack in 2014, according to a federal indictment.

While the official has not been identified, the attack broke into 500 million Yahoo accounts.

The indictment says an agent with Russia's Federal Security Service illegally accessed an account belonging to that unidentified official in 2016.

Nevada Gaming Control Board chair A.G. Burnett told the Nevada Independent he thinks the account in question belongs to an employee of the Board, but it wasn't used for work purposes.

He also told the outlet the Board's operations were unaffected by the breach.
