Winter Weather Continues To Impact Northern Nevada

A power outage has hit more than 10,000 customers in northern Nevada where a blizzard in the Sierra and continued flooding in some valleys continues to wreak havoc on the region from Lake Tahoe to rural Storey County.

About half of the outages were reported Wednesday morning in the Incline Village area on Tahoe's north shore where more than 3 feet of snow has fallen and the avalanche danger remains high.

About 2,000 homes are without power in south Reno along the Mount Rose Highway in the Arrowcreek area.

A blizzard warning was in effect at Lake Tahoe and some unexpected rain has prompted more flooding in parts of northern Nevada, including Reno, Sparks and Carson City.

Another half-foot or more of snow is in the forecast Wednesday at Tahoe.

The National Weather Service says winds gusting to 100 mph over Sierra ridgetops are starting to die down, though.
